Creative crew collaborating with cameras in a studio

The studio

A Los Angeles picture house
with forty-nine years of light.

Our story

Two friends, one 16 mm camera, and a garage on Sunset.

Oriel Finch Gallery opened in 1977, when cinematographer Oriel Marsh and producer Ada Finch began shooting wedding films and surf shorts from a rented garage. Reputation spread quickly: the duo delivered images with a cinematic finish on a home-movie budget.

Today the gallery runs as a full-service studio with six branches, a rental floor of current cinema cameras, and a resident crew of directors, operators, editors and colourists. The pledge is unchanged — sincere stories, beautifully lit, handed over on schedule.

What we believe

Three rules on every call sheet

01

Story before gear

Kit can be hired; judgement cannot. Each commission opens with a treatment, references and a clear reason the film deserves to exist.

02

Respect the light

The sun keeps its own schedule. We build shoot days around the sky, the setting and the faces in front of the lens.

03

Finish like a gallery

Every frame is cut, graded and archived as though it will hang on a wall — because our prints frequently do.
