Overview
A grandfather, a mother, a grom — same wave.
Drift Boards asked for more than tricks: a story about surf culture passing down. We found it in one family surfing the same point break for fifty years, and filmed them across a single five-day swell.
Water housings, drones and a cliff-top long lens covered every angle while the family simply surfed the way they always do.
Approach
Shoot around the tide chart.
Call times moved with the water, not the clock — 5 a.m. some days, 4 p.m. others. All golden-hour water work was shot into the sun with custom exposure to hold both spray and sky.
