Two Voices, One Road

Wayfare Journal sent two first-time filmmakers across the Southwest with a question: what do strangers talk about when the cameras are small enough to forget? Our fixers handled route, permits and translation while the pair shot everything themselves.

The studio's role was invisible by design — daily footage review, battery logistics and a safety net of backup media every night at the motel.

We banned tripods, lights and shot lists. Two mirrorless bodies, two lavaliers, and a rule that every interview runs at least forty minutes. The edit found its spine in petrol-station small talk that turned, unhurried, into life stories.
